ANTI RAGGING Committee

As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent Notification from University Grants Commission (UGC), ragging constitutes one or more of any intention by any student or group of students on:

  • Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
  • Any act that Prevents, Disrupts the Regular Academic Activity.
  • Any activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, hardship, Psychological Harm or creates Fear or Apprehension.
  • Any Act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
  • Any Act of Physical Abuse causing Assault, Harm or danger to Health.
  • Any Act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS or public insult etc.
  • Any Act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to the human dignity.
  • Any Act of Wrongful Confinement, Kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation
  • Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.

Punishment to those found guilty

Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging in the campus or even outside the campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments.

  • Debarring from appearing in any sessional test / University Examination
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
  • Withdrawing scholarships and other benefits
  • Suspension from the college for a period of one month

Objectives of Anti Ragging Committee

Anti-Ragging Committee will be the Supervisory and Advisory Committee in preserving a Culture of Ragging Free Environment in the college Campus. The Anti-Ragging Squad- office bearers will work under the Supervision of Anti Ragging Committee and to engage in the works of checking places like Canteens, Classrooms, Common rooms and other places of student congregation. Anti-Ragging Committee will be involved in designing strategies and action plan for curbing the Menace of Ragging in the college by adopting array of activities.

Responsibilities of Anti Ragging Squad

Anti-Ragging Squad will be working under the Monitoring of Anti Ragging Committee and will seek advice from the Anti-Ragging Committee. The functions of Anti-Ragging Squad will be to keep a vigil and stop the incidences of Ragging, if any, happening / reported in the places of Student aggregation including, Classrooms, Canteens, Buses, Grounds, Hostels etc. The Squad will also educate the students at large by adopting various means about the menace of Ragging and related Punishments there to. A gamut of positive reinforcement activities are adopted by Anti-Ragging Squad for orienting students and molding their personality for a better cause. They shall work in Consonance and Guidance of Anti Ragging Committee.

Canteen Comittee

The Committee monitors, at regular intervals, the quality and quantity of services provided by the canteen and works together with the canteen in charge to improve the services with regards to quality of the food provided, timing of canteen, prices of articles sold.

Committee Against Sexual Harassment

Sexual Harassment at workplace is a violation of women’s right to gender equality, life and liberty. It creates an insecure and hostile work environment, which discourages women’s participation in work, thereby adversely affecting their economic empowerment and the goal of inclusive growth.The Indian Parliament passed the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill in the LokSabha on 3rd September 2012 and RajyaSabha on 26th February 2013. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was made effective on 23rd April 2013 by way of publication in the Gazette of India. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has notified the Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (Act)and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Rules, 2013 (Rules). As per the notification, the Act has come into force with effect from December 9, 2013.

Cultural Committee

The inculcation of moral and aesthetic values with the amalgamation of talent and indigenous culture are a huge challenge for any community. The cultural society of B.L.M. Girls College believes in the preservation of this immaculate heritage. Culture is what a society lives on. Each society can see its culture reflected in its language, folktales, music, literature etc. Apart from this, however, culture has a host of sociological and economic values. Participation in the cultural activities brings an individual a host of personal benefits. Their impacts arealways deep, wondrous, and great. It creates a sense of belongingness toward each other culture. The Cultural Society of B.L.M. Girls College aims to encourage students’ interest, participation and responsibility by providing social, cultural and recreational activities for the College fraternity. Keeping this in mind the College has different groups which give students an opportunity to demonstrate and develop their talent in the fields of music, dance and other fields of culture, giving a boost to their physical and mental health.

Discipline Committee

Discipline is the bedrock on which an academic institution functions. Discipline committee is constructed with the task of ensuring a peaceful campus congenial for efficient academic business. Any act of commission or omission on the part of the students which threaten the peaceful campus atmosphere will be properly investigated and appropriate disciplinary actions also be recommended to the college council for final pronouncement. Grievance Redressal Committee Girls

The institution has a Grievance Redressal Mechanism to attend to the complaints and grievances of its students and staff. To address to the grievances of girl students, Grievance Redressal Committee has been formed. This consists of a Convener and some members (from staff). The wing attends to the complaints of girl students; protecting them against any kind of harassment. They ensure them their rights and redress their grievances. Students can meet the Convener directly in regard of their complaints or grievances and the Convener takes immediate steps to solve the problem. There is one suggestion-cum-complaint box outside the Principal’s office where students can drop their complaints. Grievance Committee spreads awareness about women empowerment and girl student protection.

Library committee functions to promote effective and interactive access and use of resources and study materials available in the library. Committee for SC/ST

The scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in an institute promotes the special interest of students in the reserved category and to provide special inputs in areas where the students experience difficult. The cell regularly have to conduct remedial coaching classes on life skills, personality development, writing assignments and making presentations and also have to organize interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems. The SC/ST/OBC/PWD students can approach the Section Officer of the Cell for redressal of any grievance(s) regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The Section Officer will meet the concerned students, understand their problem and take necessary action and/or render them necessary advice/help to resolve the matter.

Sports Committee

Keeping this precious knowledge of wealth in mind the sports committee of the college focuses in organising indoor and outdoor tournaments and annual sports and gives importance in encouraging active participation of teachers students and non-teaching staff in those events. The committee believes that through active or even passive participation in games and sports the students will be able to build a sense of cooperation and team-spirit in an individual and grow in them self-confidence and strong personality which help them to overcome difficulties in the future journey of life. The committee also aims through sports in preserving a healthy relationship between teachers, students and Staffs which is extremely valuable for the overall progress of the institution. Greivance Redressal Committee(Girls)

The committee is vested with the authority to settle any type of grievances raised by the students, staff of the college. The committee also initiates suomoto proceedings. The students are ought to lodge their grievances to their respective tutors, and they in turn intimate the matter to the committee for necessary action. Students are not encouraged topped their complaints to the Principal, initially. They have to suggestion provided by the grievance redressal cell and later on approach to the Principal, if their grievances are not redressed.
